Scott Credit Union Hosts Virtual 82nd Annual Membership Meeting
March 25, 2025Edwardsville, IL – March 25, 2025 – Scott Credit Union (SCU) held its 82nd Annual Meeting on Thursday, March 20, 2025, bringing together members, leadership, and the Board of Directors to review the accomplishments of 2024 and discuss the credit union’s vision for the future.
This past year, SCU reinforced its mission of Members. Value. Community., delivering both financial and social impact to the communities it serves. "At Scott Credit Union, your community is our community, and together we are building a future that is financially strong, socially responsible, and rooted in lasting impact," said Lawrence Haffner, Chairman of the Board.
As a member-owned financial institution, SCU continued its tradition of sharing success with members by distributing over $1 million in Bonus Dividends and Loan Interest Rebates in 2024. Over the past 17 years, this initiative has returned more than $16.4 million to members, reaffirming SCU’s commitment to putting people over profits.
The Scott Credit Union Community Foundation also made a significant impact, awarding a record-breaking $150,000 in With You Grants to local schools and educators. Since its launch in 2020, the program has distributed more than $355,000, supporting STEM projects, arts programs, and essential classroom resources.
Beyond financial contributions, SCU employees actively gave back through the 250 Acts of Kindness initiative, completing 103 acts in 2024 and bringing the two-year total to 207 acts, with the goal of completing 250 acts by 2025. These efforts supported local food pantries, provided meals for families facing cancer treatments, and helped fund playground equipment for schools. "Giving back is embedded in SCU’s culture, and our employees continue to lead with purpose and passion," Haffner added.
In 2024, SCU expanded its offerings with the launch of the SCU Insurance Agency, providing members with seamless access to essential insurance solutions. The credit union was also recognized for its workplace culture, earning the Top Workplace Award from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for the 11th time and, for the first time, being named a Top Workplaces USA Award winner by USA Today.
“Our strength as a financial institution is not just measured by our numbers but by the positive impact we make in the lives of our members and communities," said Frank Padak, President & CEO. "In 2024, we reinforced our commitment to financial education, community service, and workplace excellence—because when our members and employees thrive, we all succeed.”
In 2024, SCU expanded financial literacy efforts, reaching over 1,500 students through partnerships with Banzai and Budgeting Buddies with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Who Knew? SCU video series also saw remarkable growth, earning a Diamond Award from America’s Credit Unions and amassing 1.1 million views—a 287% year-over-year increase.“
“This recognition highlights our commitment to providing members with engaging, informative content,” remarked Padak,” to help them navigate their financial journeys with confidence. Through our financial education initiatives, we are providing members, teachers, and the community with valuable classroom resources, ensuring that financial literacy is accessible, engaging, and impactful.”
During the meeting, LaJuan Miller, Joy Hayward, and Frank Padak were re-elected for new 3-year terms as Directors. They will continue to serve on Scott Credit Union’s volunteer Board of Directors, alongside Jessica Haugen, Christopher Sobrino, and Angela Stewart. The Board will remain under the leadership of Chairman Lawrence Haffner, Vice Chairman Jacob Curtis, Secretary Debbie Lane, and Treasurer Frank Padak.
