    Job Description

    Reports To: General Sales Manager and Service Manager

    Hours: M-F (7:30am - 4:30pm) 

    Summary: Used Car Shop Managers manage the Service Department facility, processes, procedure,
    and personnel. They will manage technicians under the Service's Manager's direction. They will
    ensure the repair shop is well-maintained, orderly, and running as efficiently as possible.

    Essential Duties:

    • Coordinates flow of vehicles from varying dealership buildings to ensure each vehicle is properly serviced 
    • Manage technicians to ensure proper level of recondition is achieved and that there is no over-reconditioning of vehicles occuring
    • Manage Internal Advisors and make sure all processes are being followed in accordance with General Motors P&P
    • Reveiwing the 14 day RO list and maintaining clear and precise notes on open repair orders
    • Insect vehicles with the technicians to understand the needs to each vehicle
    • Work with Used Car Manager to discuss MPIs on each vehicle
    • Schedule work to be performed to ensure timely completion of work 
    • Verify mechanics are performing an adequate test drive of each vehicle prior to inspection and upon completion of work to verify quality of work performed
    • Look up and assign the proper amount of labor time to mechanics
    • Constantly work to maximize efficiency in the servicing of used vehicles 
    • Make sure all part tickets and job cards are turned in at the end of each day
    • Oversees that technicians are keeping their designated workplaces orderly, including keeping hoses off the ground and that special tools are returned 
    • Locks and unlocks facility, including rear gate. 
    • Make sure all warranty procedures are being followed as per General Manager guidelines 
    • Make sure ALL GM vehicles are being scanned with the GM VIS reader (100% of VINS)
    • Identify all issues within the department and bring to the attention of the Fixed Operations Director 
    • Remains fully compliant with Company HR trainings
    • Maintains a professional appearance
    • Other tasks as assigned

     

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Must have knowledge of diagnostic tools and equipment 
    • Two to four years related experience and/or training preferred
    • Previous automotive dealership experience preferred
    • Must have clean and valid driver's license
    • Physically capable of lifting and moving objects up to 30 pounds if necessary
